How a bond works, in four steps.
Nobody is born knowing this. Here is the plain version, so the first phone call is easier.
This is general information, not legal advice. The team confirms the details for your situation before anything is signed.
- 1
You call and tell us what you know
Who was arrested, which jail or county, and a number where we can reach you. If you do not know everything, that is fine. Start with what you have.
- 2
We explain the bond and the paperwork
A bail bond is a promise to the court that the person will come to every court date. Someone, usually a family member, signs as the cosigner. The team goes over every page with you before anything is signed.
- 3
You sign, and we file with the jail
A cosigner signs the paperwork with the team, in person or by an arrangement the team confirms. Collateral is sometimes part of the conversation, and the team explains what that means for your situation.
- 4
We keep in touch about court dates
Missing court can put the bond at risk, so we stay in contact before each date. Reminders by call or text are part of how we help the family and the client stay on track.
What to have ready when you call.
You do not need all of it to start. Call with what you have, and we will work out the rest together.
- The full name and date of birth of the person in custody, if you know them
- Which jail or county is holding them
- The bond amount, if you were told one
- Your name, your number, and how you are related
- Whether someone with steady income or property can act as cosigner
- Any court date you were given

Every call answered, including the one at 3 AM.
Dawn is the AI assistant for Aurora Bail Bonds. A voicemail box takes a message. She takes the call, and a clean summary is on Mark's desk by morning.
What she does
Answers every call
Any hour, in English or Spanish, in a calm voice. She says she is an AI and that the call is recorded.
Takes down what the team needs
Who is calling, which jail or county, how to reach you. She never asks about the case.
Books a time to sign
She sets a time with the team and texts you the confirmation. The team goes over every page first.
Sends court-date reminders
Calls and texts before each date, because a missed date can put a bond at risk.
What she will never do
- Give legal advice or talk about the case
- Recommend or refer an attorney
- Promise a release, a release time, or any outcome
- Quote a fee. The team confirms the exact premium before anything is signed
- Take payment, or anything of value, on a call
If anyone is in danger, she tells them to call 911. If anyone is thinking of hurting themselves, she gives 988 first. A caller who is afraid of the person in custody gets a human, and nothing about that person is shared.
Call, and you will hear a calm voice.
